Analysis of Wood Bonding Failures that Initiated Before Adhesive Solidification: Air Fingers and Cavitation

چکیده

Abstract Bond line openings while an adhesive is still viscous (liquid or paste-like) leave characteristic marks. Air fingers and cavitation develop on the surface of when joint parts are fully partially separated before solidifying adhesive. Therefore, observation air provides important clues root cause failure bond lines. There limited knowledge about factors that lead to formation either cavitation. Additionally, a resoftening thermoplastic adhesives by high temperatures may be confused with developed initial curing. To improve understanding structures, we assemble some experiments this phenomenon. dominate easily penetrates adhesive, thickness high, has low viscosity (early in process). Cavitation dominates layer thin, (late process) ingress restricted.

Effect of acidic primers on adhesive bonding of tri-n-butylborane initiated adhesive resin to alumina.

The present study was conducted to evaluate the effect of acidic primers on adhesive bonding to sintered alumina. Alumina disk specimens were primed with one of the following acidic materials: Acryl Bond, All Bond II Primer B, Alloy Primer, Estenia Opaque Primer, Eye Sight Opaque Primer, M.L. Primer, MR. Bond, and Super-Bond Liquid. The disks were bonded with an adhesive resin (Super-Bond) init...

Factors that Lead to Failure with Wood Adhesive Bonds

Understanding what makes a good wood adhesive is difficult since the type of adhesive, wood species, bonding process, and resultant products vary considerably. Wood bonds are subjected to a variety of tests that reflect the different product performance criteria in diverse countries. The most common tests involve some type of moisture resistance; both wood and adhesive factors influence this mo...

Cellulose Graft Copolymers for Potential Adhesive Applications Bonding of Plastics to Wood

Bonding of hydrophobic plastic materials to wood to create new wood-plastic (polystyrene) materials with improved mechanical and physical properties that incorporate the desirable features of each constituent is difficult to achieve, This is due to poor interfacial adhesion between the wood and polystyrene components because of their inherent incompatibility. New, well-defined, tailored cellulo...
